Hi, fellow AmpliFire users !
So here it is, my latest batch of
presets (for FRFR setups), including some made with the upcoming MK IV amp model (Tom
sent me a beta version). I recorded that video a few days ago and made some more presets since...
Now, an important note : as you all know, we can’t share
presets using commercial IRs. I have a few presets using commercial
IRs by Ownhammer, so I won’t share those. However, most of my
presets uses custom hybrid IRs which I made using various methods -
mixing free IRs from various sources, tonematching guitar stems (and even YouTube
videos of guitar amps !), tonematching of presets from other
guitar processors with Ozone, and even of other guitars. For example,
I borrowed a Strat, captured its position 4 “quack” sound and
used it as a source, my Ibanez position 4 sound as a destination, and
applied the resulting curve (with Ozone) to a custom “Fender” cab
– so now my Ibanez, with that cab, sounds more like a Strat. It may
sounds weird, but it works :)
Note that these cabs and the presets using them are NOT exact tonematches of the presets from the other modelers (and by choice, none of my original presets which are from the Axe-Fx uses FAS stock or cab packs – they use various free cabs) : they are more “in the ballpark” but not identical cabs/presets, using some EQ’ing to suit the AmpliFire amp models, according to my taste. And even after the tonematching process, I tweaked the AmpliFire presets again.
As a result, these custom cabs are not exact representations of existing cabs, like those sold by Ownhammer, or those shared by Jay Mitchell. But what matters to me is that they sound how I like to complement the AmpliFire amp models, often with fatter low mids, for example. Of course you can always import the Ownhammer you bought to use them with my presets !

how long before the mk iv is out? what happens to those patches until then? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI don't know how long but it should be soon, until then they won't work but all the others will
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Thibault
20 bucks is cheap good deal :)
ReplyDeleteNice stuff! Not sure I have heard Axe FX sound this good. Probably because I hear more metal presets when its demoed then cleans like you play hear.If your next batch of Axe FX presets sounds as good as all of these, Im definately buying them :)
ReplyDeleteHello! I love your work and recently purchased your Quantum 2.0 presets. Are there any others that you have for purchase? Specifically, I read that you had presets for those who bought your album. Please let me know if these are still available as I would love to purchase your album as well. Also, just let me know which additional presets you would recommend and let me know how to buy them. I remain your dear fan. Best regards, Rick Whatley (dr.rick.whatley@sbcglobal.net)

ReplyDeleteThibault,
ReplyDeleteHow do you rate the Amplifier with the Axe Fx?
Curious on your thoughts on this :)
Thanks
I never comment on that publicly
DeleteMessage to Jose Angel Oliva Sayago : please don't post Spanish comments here, write to me on my mail, and in English please... I don't understand what you want !
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say your Amplifire presets are amazing and eclipse the quality of even the MBritt profiles I had thought were the best. They've been the difference between me keeping and selling the Amplifire. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Thibaut,
ReplyDeleteIk am going tot buy the amplifire 12 with firmware 4.01.
Can i use youre presets with that firmware?
Gr Harry
Hello, yes they work fine, it's just recommended that you reload them after a firmware update
DeleteHello, I'm thinking of buying but what happens if AA do another firmware update and they don't work?
ReplyDeleteThanks
This won't happen, the guys at Atomic have stated numerous time that the modeling will remain the same and new firmware won't affect existing presets. However, they recommend to backup all your presets before a firmware update and reload them afterwards
DeleteThat's great thanks. I'm ordering now. It's just that I read somewhere that your patches didn't work after firmware 4 updates.
DeleteCheers
Hi, I recently brought both your AmpliFire preset after reading the forum and they are very nice.
ReplyDeleteI have also read that you create some really nice Marshall IR, which I’m interested to get to improve the preset i’ve created. Can I get your advise on your recommendation and how to purchase them?
Thank you :)
Hello, thanks for your comments ! The IR you mention is already in some of the presets
ReplyDeleteThanks for your prompt reply.
ReplyDeleteAm I right to say, the referred IR is integrated to the preset, and not those IR files by itself?
Because I am looking for IR files create by you if possible :)
Thank you!
